The Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera) botanically belongs to the family Arecaceae. It has an impressive appearance, slow growth rate and it's a large size palm tree, which can reach a height of 30 m. The Date Palm has large, arched, pinnately compound leaves with dark green leaflets and usually a medium thickness and sturdy trunk, with a diameter up to 1 m. It is an dioecious species (separate male and female trees), and from the inside of the foliage of the female trees develop separate central flower axes, which have whitish flowers on heavy branched panicle inflorescences. After the fertilization of the flowers follows the development of the edible fruits, the well-known dates. The Date Palm is easily grown in any type of soil, and in areas where there is no frost. It is planted in parks, squares, islets, sidewalks, and gardens, as well as in business premises. The tree is also of agricultural interest, since in its natural distribution zone there are organized plantations for the production of dates.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the palm plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large palms are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
