The European Fan Palm (Chamaerops humilis) or Mediterranean Fan Palm is ​​an evergreen palm plant, shrub or small tree, with an extremely decorative appearance. Initially it has a trunk, but from the third year onwards it develops multiple. The leaves, which are carried on woody and thorny petioles, are palmate-shaped, forming fans, while they are green on the upper surface and glaucous on the lower. The flowers emerge in spike inflorescences, are golden yellow and appear in spring. Edible, oval-shaped fruits are reddish or orange in color. The European Fan Palm is an easy cultivation plant, very durable and with minimal care requirements, as long as it is planted in excellently drained soil. It is used both in the garden, as well as in pots and large planters, while it is suitable for installation in coastal areas.
