Peruvian Crested Cactus (Cereus peruvianus f. crested) - Cactuses & Succulents. A cactus of unique beauty with wavy stems, which are fan-like. It is a cultivated form that resulted from a type of genetic mutation called fasciation. Crested Cactus is a perennial, slow-growing, large-sized, multi-branched plant, of bushy or tree-like habitat. The wavy stems, glaucous green to bluish-green in colour, are about 6 to 8 cm wide. The ribs of the stems are low, rounded and somewhat compressed, with areoles that are small, widely dispersed and covered with hairs. Numerous needle-like spines (though sometimes absent) of a brownish reddish colour emerge from the areoles. The Peruvian Crested Cactus blooms in summer, with large white flowers that open for only a few hours, from evening to early morning. The flowers are succeeded by drupe-like red thornless fruits. Peruvian Crested Cactus (Cereus peruvianus f. crested) is a very hardy xerophyte plant suitable for potting, gravel garden soil or rock gardens. It is used in both gardening and landscape architecture to create - among other things - dry landscape compositions (xeriscaping) or as a focal point plant because of its iconic presence.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the cactus, such as the size of the pot, its height, and age. Large cacti are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
