The Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum), is a large deciduous shrub or medium-sized tree, which botanically belongs to the family Aceraceae (or Sapindaceae). The leaves are simple, deep lobed and green, which in autumn acquire attractive orange-yellow and red shades. The red flowers of minimal decorative value appear in the Spring, to be followed by the "winged" look, extremely ornamental fruits of the plant. Japanese Maples are relatively easy to cultivate plants that grow in acidic or neutral soils with excellent drainage. They thrive in semi-shady places as well as in places of full shade, while their exposure in places of full sunshine should be combined with increased irrigation, otherwise the leaves may burn - in combination with very high temperatures. The Acer palmatum is used in various ways in gardening and landscape architecture, planted alone or in groups in gardens and parks, but even in pots, and is extremely popular as a ready-made bonsai or for the creation of this type of ornamental plants.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large shrubs are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
