The Black Mulberry belongs to the fruit trees that have played an important role in agricultural history. Is the tree which became the rearing of silkworms for the production of natural silk, but was replaced by the White Mulberry because the leaves of the latter were considered qualitatively superior food for the insect. As fruitful, produces black berries that have a sweet flavor and can be eaten fresh or in jams and pies. It is medium-sized, smaller than the White Mulberry, very rapid growth and rich dense shade. Planted in full-sun positions even in calcareous soils. Because the tree over time becomes crooked and gnarled needs pruning, if it is desired to maintain the shape. Although the saplings are vulnerable to frost, as adult is resistant to low temperatures, and does not encounter any particular problems with pests or diseases.
It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large trees are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
