Geo Red Worms 1lt for Vermicomposting Geo HUMUS

100% Bio Product

Geo Red Worms 1lt for Vermicomposting Geo HUMUS. High quality composting medium, consisting of red-coloured earthworms of the species Eisenia Fetida and Eisenia Andrei. The specialised digestive system of these earthworms converts food residues and other organic materials into a nutrient-rich compost. The resulting compost is called vermicompost or vermicast and is nothing more than the worms' excrement. The whole process is called vermicomposting and belongs to the 'cold' method of compost production. In this method, the earthworms operate in an aerobic (air) environment, which is achieved by stirring the biomass, and high humidity is necessary, by sedimentation. In such conditions the worms are able to process large quantities of food waste and organic materials and at the same time reproduce rapidly, even in a confined space. The whole process is slow (it can take up to 6 months for the final worm compost) and has the disadvantage of not destroying any existing weed seeds. On the other hand, the advantages are many since it provides up to 4% more nitrogen in the final product than conventional "hot" compost and can be made cheaply, in a small space, with little effort and requiring minimal, rudimentary skills from the gardener-preparer. Geo Red Worms is available in a 1lt bucket.
