Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis) Climbing Plant - Vine Flowering Plants. The Passion Fruit belongs botanically to the family Passifloraceae. It is native to various regions of Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is grown commercially for its tasty and nutritious fruit in countries in the Tropical and Subtropical zones. It can withstand high temperatures, frost (if necessary, it will regrowth from the root) and drought. The Passion Fruit is also used as an ornamental climber for creating a hedge, as well as in pergolas or trellises. It is also planted as specimen, or in group plantings and compositions. The fruit of the Passiflora edulis contains high amounts of vitamin A and vitamin C.
