Hard Rush (Juncus inflexus) Plant - Aquatic, Pond & Wetland Plants. The Hard Rush botanically belongs to the Juncaceae family. It is native to various regions of Europe, Asia and Africa. It is an aquatic, herbaceous, rhizomatous, perennial and evergreen plant, with a fast growth rate, erect habit and a spherical or columnar shape, with a dense crown and a height of about 1.2 m. The leaves are green or glaucous-green in colour, simple, linear, with entire margins and emerging directly from the rhizome in the form of tufts. The Hard Rush blooms from late spring to mid-summer. The non-ornamental flowers, which are borne on a cyme inflorescence, are reddish-brown in colour. Hard Rush is an easy-to-grow plant that is adapted to medium to heavy soils, as long as they are moist. It has virtually no pest and disease problems, and can withstand both high and low temperatures (although in very low temperatures it loses its foliage until the following spring). It can be used in many ways, such as as a riparian plant in lakes and rivers, but also in the water element up to a depth of about 7 cm, in mass plantings and in compositions with other aquatic plants, as well as in pots and containers. Furthermore, thanks to its high resistance to salt sprays, it can also be planted in seaside gardens.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
