The Common Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is an evergreen shrub, native to Greece, with upright branches and dark green fragrant leaves and flowers. The flowers, which appear in summer and are white in color, are followed by small, melanocyte spherical fruits. The plant is extremely adaptable to almost any soil type, as well as highly resistant to drought and salinity. The Common Myrtle is one of the shrubs used as "skeleton" plants in gardening and landscape architecture, while its location is unquestionable in Mediterranean-type gardens.
