Cape Marguerite (Dimorphotheca ecklonis) Plant

Cape Marguerite (Dimorphotheca ecklonis-syn.Osteospermum ecklonis) Plant - Flowering Plants. The Cape Marguerite botanically belongs to the family Asteraceae or Compositae, and is native to various regions of South Africa. It is a shrubby, perennial and evergreen species, growing up to 1 m tall. It has a medium growth rate, an erect or decumbent habit and a globular shape. The leaves are dark green, simple, slightly fleshy, oblanceolate-obovate shaped with dentate margins and covered with fine hairs. The flowering of the monoecious plant occurs almost all year round, depending on the temperatures, but mainly from mid-spring to mid-autumn. The daisy-like flowers (capitula) are star-shaped and white with a violet centre. However, as it is quite a widespread plant, it has hundreds of varieties to show, with colors of white, yellow, orange, red, purple, etc. The Cape Marguerite is quite easy to grow. Except in heavy clay, it can be planted in almost any other soil type, acid to alkaline reaction, as long as it has excellent drainage. It tolerates very high temperatures, drought and has moderate tolerance to salinity. It can be used both in gardening and in landscape architecture, planted alone, in groups and in compositions with other plants. Thanks to its resistance to salt sprays, it can even adorn seaside gardens.

► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
