Candyleaf Seeds 50 Packet (Stevia rebaudiana). Candyleaf belongs botanically to the Asteraceae family. It is mainly used as an important sweetener. Its leaves are about 35 to 40 times sweeter than sugar, thanks to various steviol glycosides (mainly stevioside and rebaudioside), which does not contribute carbohydrates and calories. It is a perennial, multi-branched, evergreen species, native to Brazil and Paraguay, reaching a height and diameter of 0.6 meters. It has small, simple and intense light green aromatic leaves, and their shape is elliptical, ovoid or spatulate. The white tubular flowers are solitary and borne on a corymb inflorescence. The seed is a striated achene with pappus, grayish brown to black in color. Candyleaf is relatively easy to grow in areas where the temperature rarely drops below 0 °C. Adapts to a variety of soil types with an acidic to neutral reaction (except heavy clays), as long as they drain well but at the same time retain the necessary moisture. From 4400 to 7500 Candyleaf plants can be planted per stremma. The dry mass yield is between 400 and 500 kg per stremma.
