Sprengeri Asparagus Fern (Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri') Plant. Another timelessly decorative type of asparagus for indoor and outdoor use. Asparagus (Asparagus seteceus) botanically belongs to the Asparagus family (Asparagaceae), and is native to the southern and eastern part of the African continent. It is a perennial, tuberous, evergreen, fast-growing, erect, spreading or climbing species, with dense crowns and a size of about 3 m. On the stems appear the twigs, which are green and look like leaves - but are not. Their particular configuration is reminiscent of fern leaves, hence the English common name of the plant as Asparagus Fern. The actual leaves are blade-shaped and indistinguishable. Spider Asparagus is a dioecious species and blooms from spring to summer - though rarely in cultivation - with tiny, white flowers. This is followed by black-coloured small round fruits, up to 0.5 cm in size. Spider is a relatively easy plant to grow, has no serious pest and disease problems, has almost zero maintenance requirements, and can be planted outdoors where climatic conditions allow. Its growth is favoured when it is placed in semi-shaded areas with high levels of humidity, where it does not receive direct sunlight. It is an excellent decoration for homes, offices and business premises.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, and age. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
