Armand Clematis (Clematis armandii) Vine Plant - Flowering Climber Plants. The Armand Clematis belongs botanically to the Buttercups family (Ranunculaceae). It is native to various regions of central and southern China up to Burma. It is a large climbing plant, which, thanks to its tendrils, can reach a height of about 10 m, supported on trees or surfaces. It is perennial and evergreen, with a fast growth rate, medium crown density and a climbing appearance. The leaves are opposite, compound with 3 leaflets, smooth-textured, ovate or lanceolate in shape with entire margins, the lamina of which is a deep dark green. Its monoecious, fragrant (vanilla-like) flowers, borne on cyme inflorescences, are white, star-shaped and appear from early to mid-spring. The Armand Clematis is an easy-to-grow plant, has no serious pest and disease problems, and has minimal maintenance requirements. However, its growth is favoured when placed in direct light or semi-shaded areas, with normal moisture levels, and fertile soils with excellent drainage. The Armand Clematis is utilized as a climbing plant for creating a hedge, as well as in pergolas or trellises. It is also planted alone, or in group plantings and compositions. And its satisfactory tolerance to salt sprays also allows it to be grown in seaside gardens.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
