Sea Heath (Frankenia laevis) Salt-Tolerant Plant - Grass-like Plants. The halophyte Frankenia botanically belongs to the Carnation (Caryophyllaceae) family and originates from the western regions of the Mediterranean Basin. It is a herbaceous, perennial and evergreen plant, with a medium growth rate, creeping habit, with a dense canopy and a height of about 40 cm. The leaves are glaucous green in colour, simple, fleshy, lanceolate with revoluted margins. It shows abundant flowering from about mid-spring to mid-summer. The small, star-shaped flowers are pinkish-purple in color. The halophyte Frankenia is an easy-to-grow plant that adapts to a variety of soil types and environments. Among other things, it can withstand very low and high temperatures, saline soils and drought. However, it establishes more quickly on sandy or gravelly soils, with excellent drainage, and in full sun exposure. It can be used in many ways, such as a ground cover plant, for soil retention planted on slopes at risk of erosion and in rock gardens. Furthermore, thanks to its high resistance to salt sprays, it is also planted in seaside gardens.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
