Primrose (Primula vulgaris-syn. Primula acaulis) Plant - Flowering Plants. The Primrose botanically belongs to the Primulaceae family and originates from Central and Western Asia and Europe. Both the species itself and its many varieties and hybrids are highly ornamental. It is a herbaceous, perennial and semi-evergreen plant with a moderate growth rate, rounded shape and clumpy appearance, with a dense canopy and a height of about 40 cm. The green-coloured leaves are fleshy, broad, crinkled, oblong-obovate, and emerge in a rosette arrangement. Attractive flowering usually occurs from late winter to late spring with beautiful funnel-shaped fragrant flowers. The colour of the flowers is varied as they can be white, orange, yellow, blue, violet, pink, red (often bicoloured or tricoloured), etc. The Primrose is a relatively easy-to-grow plant that is adapted to a variety of environments. However, it prefers cool soils with excellent drainage and rich in organic matter and exposure to full sun or semi-shade - especially in areas with high summer temperatures. It can be utilized in many ways, including as a ground cover plant, rock garden plant or planted with other herbs to create color and other compositions. Still, thanks to its resistance to sea spray droplets, it is even planted in coastal gardens.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large plants are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
