Kermes Oak (Quercus coccifera) Shrub

Kermes Oak (Quercus coccifera) Shrub - Plants and Shrubs for Gardening. The Kermes Oak belongs botanically to the Fagaceae family. It is an evergreen plant, which grows naturally in the Greek area, of very slow growth-rate, which acquires a spherical-irregular shape. The leaves are simple, leathery and shiny, ellipsoidal-ovoidal in shape, with serrated-edged margins, and their colour is green. Flowering occurs in mid to late spring with yellow flowers of no ornamental value, borne on a catkin inflorescence. The flowers are succeeded by brown-coloured fruits, the acorns. Kermes Oak is an easy to grow shrub. It grows in almost any soil type, acidic to alkaline reaction - even calcareous - which have excellent drainage. It can be used both in gardening and in landscape architecture, planted as specimen, in groups and also in compositions with other plants. It creates a highly effective deterrent hedges - formal or informal.

► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large shrubs are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
