Golden Shrimp Plant (Pachystachys lutea) Shrub - Evergreen Flowering Shrubs. The Golden Shrimp Plant botanically belongs to the Acanthaceae family and originates from areas of Peru. It is a bushy, perennial (in the tropics) and evergreen plant, reaching a height of up to 1,2 m. It is a moderate growth rate plant, which has vase form and upright habit. Its dark green leaves are simple, glabrous, elliptic-spatulate in shape with entire or crenated margins. The dominant ornamental feature of the plant is the coloured bracts surrounding the small flowers, which are mainly, but not only, present from mid spring to mid summer. The colour of the bracteate leaves is yellow, while the flowers are white. The Golden Yellow Shrimp is a shrub that is quite easy to grow and adapts to various environments - as long as the temperature in winter does not fall below 0°C. However, it thrives in well-drained, fertile soils and in half-shaded areas, especially where summer temperatures are high. It can be used in many ways, such as in borders or hedges, and/or together with other herbaceous and shrubby plants to create colourful and other compositions. Furthermore, thanks to its resistance to salt spray, it is suitable for planting in coastal areas.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the shrub, such as the size of the pot, its height, and age. Large shrubs are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
