Golden Irish Yew (Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata Aurea') Coniferous Tree

The Golden Irish Yew (Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata' Aurea) is a long-lived coniferous tree of small growth belonging to the Taxaceae family. It is a variety of the Taxus baccata, from which it differs mainly in terms of decorative possibilities. It has a natural cylindrical shape, bright yellow to lime-green foliage of very dense volume, while it can withstand any exposure conditions, from completely sunny to sunless. It can be planted in almost any type of soil, which is rich in humus, has excellent drainage, and is acidic or slightly alkaline. As with all Taxus, the Golden Irish Yew is characterized by the production of new shoots and branches on older ones, a fact that has long been used by gardening as well as landscape architecture, to create living fences, with simple or elaborate shapes. In addition to the hedges, the Golden Irish Yew is also planted as an individual tree or in groups. All parts of the plant are toxic, except of the red aril, the pericarp, which bears the female trees - which constitute the majority of the individuals of the variety. These red fruits, however, add an extra ornamental element to the Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata' tree.

► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the conifer plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large conifer shrubs and trees are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
