Golden Barrel Cactus (Echinocactus grussonii-syn. Kroenleinia grusonii) - Cactuses & Succulents. Perennial cacti plant of impressive appearance, due to its remarkable symmetry. It is slow-growth rate, small to medium-sized, and has an initially spherical shape which becomes oval over time. From its barrel-like stem arise needle-like, straight or slightly curved sharp spines (transformed leaves). The colour of the spines is yellow to pale yellow and white. The spines arise from the top of characteristic conical shoot projections, the aeroles, which form 21 to 37 ridges - not particularly prominent in young Golden Barrel Cactus. Flowering of the plant occurs in summer, after the age of 20 years. The flowers, which are yellow in colour, are succeeded by greenish-brown fleshy berry fruits. The Golden Barrel Cactus (Echinocactus grussonii) is a hardy xerophyte plant suitable for potting, gravel garden soil or rock gardens. It is used in both gardening and landscape architecture to create - among other things - dry landscape compositions (xeriscaping).
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the cactus, such as the size of the pot, its height, and age. Large cacti are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
