Austrian Pine or Black Pine (Pinus nigra) Conifer Tree - Coniferous Plants-Pines. The Black Pine botanically belongs to the Pine family (Pinaceae). It is native to many areas of the Mediterranean basin, mainly in Europe and Asia, while in Africa it is found at high altitudes in the Northwest. It is an evergreen conifer, very large in size, reaching a height of up to about 55 m. It has a slow growth rate, an erect habit and an initially conical shape, which over the years becomes broadly umbelliferous. The pleasantly fragrant leaves are needle-like, arising in pairs, dark bluish-green in colour, and are entire, rough-textured. The Austrian Pine is extremely easy to grow as, as a native species of the Greek flora, it grows easily in appropriate environments. It adapts to almost any soil type, from moderately acidic to very alkaline, with excellent drainage. It can be planted even in calcareous soils, poor in nutrients, and can withstand very low temperatures and drought. It is used in both gardening and landscape architecture as a dominant species, in group plantings or for creating tree rows and shade areas. Furthermore, thanks to its resistance to salt sprays, it can also be planted in seaside gardens.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the conifer plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large conifer shrubs and trees are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.

They are also suitable for coastal plantings, as well as for the planting of rock gardens, while their use is also indicated in areas with little water (as the islands), due to their increased resistance to drought. |
