The Golden Pyramidal Thuja (Thuja orientalis 'Pyramidalis Aurea' or Platycladus orientalis 'Pyramidalis Aurea') is an evergreen coniferous shrub of small growth belonging to the Cypress family (Cupressaceae). It is a variety of the Thuja orientalis or Platycladus orientalis from which it differs mainly in ornamental qualities. It has a natural conical shape and upright and dense foliage. The colour of its leaves follows the change of seasons in a striking way, becoming bright golden-yellow in spring, yellowish-greenish in summer until mid - to late autumn, and as temperatures fall, from late autumn to winter, it turns brownish yellow or coppery yellow. The Golden Pyramidal Thuja can withstand any exposure conditions except sunless. It is a fairly easy-to-grow plant, which can be planted in almost any soil type that retains the necessary moisture but also has excellent drainage. It can be used in both gardening and landscape architecture, as a specimen, in group plantings, in in compositions with other plants and for the creation of low hedge rows. It can also be planted in pots and planters and is unaffected by salt spray, making it suitable for planting in coastal areas.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the conifer plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large conifer shrubs and trees are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
