Silky Eremophila (Eremophila nivea) Shrub in Pot - Flowering Shrubs. The Silky Eremophila botanically belongs to the family Scrophulariaceae. It is an endemic species of several regions of Western Australia. It is a medium-sized shrub, perennial and evergreen, growing up to 2 m tall. It has a moderate growth rate, an erect habit with a silvery-white appearance - as almost all parts are covered with soft white hairs - and a globular-ovate shape. Its simple alternate leaves, are greyish white in colour, linear-lanceolate in shape, with a pubescent texture and with entire margins. The plant flowers from late spring to late summer. Its tubular-shaped, lilac-mauve flowers emerge from the axils of the leaves. The Silky Eremophila is fairly easy to grow. It can be established in a variety of outdoor environments as it adapts to several soil types as long as they have very good drainage. However, it thrives in sandy loam or clay-sandy soils with a neutral to alkaline pH, in sunny locations and in areas with warm summers. It can be used both in gardening and in landscape architecture, planted alone, in groups and also in compositions with other plants - especially in xeriscape gardens. Thanks to its resistance to salt sprays, it can even adorn seaside gardens.
