Pink Abelia (Abelia chinensis 'Edward Goucher') Shrub - Plants and Shrubs for Gardening. The Pink Abelia or Edward Goucher Glossy Abelia belongs botanically to the Honeysuckle (Caprifoliaceae) family. The variety Edward Goucher is a hybrid resulting from the crossing of Abelia chinensis with Abelia uniflora. It is a particularly ornamental, small evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub with a medium growth rate, which develops a spherical to hemispherical shape. It has arching branches and dense green foliage with simple, smooth, ovate leaves that turn reddish in autumn. The plant's prolonged and profuse flowering is observed from early Summer to about Mid-Autumn. It has beautiful lilac-pink flowers, which are funnel-shaped and give off a pleasant fragrance, especially in the evening. The flowers are succeeded by small brown achene fruits. The Pink Abelia Edward Goucher is an extremely easy-to-grow shrub. It grows in almost any soil type, slightly acidic to neutral reaction, which has excellent drainage. It can be used in both gardening and landscape architecture, planted as specimen, in groups and in compositions with other plants. It creates fine hedges - especially informal.
► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the plant, such as the size of the pot, its height, age and shape. Large shrubs are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.
