It is a particularly ornamental medium-sized evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub with a moderate growth rate, which develops a spherical-oval shape. The 'Green Cloud' variety has dense green foliage with simple, smooth, ovate leaves that give off a pleasant aroma. The prolonged and abundant flowering of the plant is observed from early summer to about mid-autumn. It has beautiful purple-violet-coloured five-petalled flowers, which are campanulate or tubular in shape. The flowers are interspersed with small brown-coloured capsule fruits.
