However, the exact origin of the plant is not clear as some researchers believe that it originated from the plants Eriobotrya deflexa and Rhaphiolepis indica, and others that one of its parents was Eriobotrya japonica. In any case, it is an attractive-looking large ornamental shrub or small tree that also produces edible fruits. It is an evergreen, moderate to fast growth rate plant, which takes on a spherical - spreading shape. Coppertone Loquat is a relatively easy to grow shrub. It requires soils of light to medium texture, acidic to alkaline reaction, with excellent drainage. It can be used both in gardening and in landscape architecture, planted as specimen, in groups and also in compositions with other plants.
