Buchanan's Sedge (Carex buchananii - syn. Carex tenax) Plant - Grass-like Plants. Herbaceous perennial of great ornamental value. Botanically it belongs to the Cyperaceae family, and is native to New Zealand. It is an evergreen species, moderate growth rate, upright or globose habit, with dense canopy and a size of about 0.70 to 0.80 m. The main ornamental feature of the plant is its linear, arching leaves with curled tips, which are reddish-brown or bronze in colour. Buchanan's Sedge is quite easy to grow, being adaptable to a wide range of different environments, provided the soil has excellent drainage. It is used in many ways in both Gardening and Landscape Architecture.
