The Mandarine (Citrus reticulata) belongs botanically to the genus Citrus and the Rutaceae family. It is a small evergreen tree whose height can reach 6 to 7 m. Seeks sunny places, sheltered from strong winds, in warm areas without the presence of frost. It is grown in fertile, medium soils, which are neutral to alkaline (but not calcareous), and drain well. The Mandarine has hard, glossy, dark green leaves and flowers small, white and violet, mainly hermaphroditic, with a pleasant aroma. Most varieties of the tree bloom mostly in Spring and Summer and ripen their fruits in Autumn and Winter.
