Miniature Aloe (Haworthia pumila - syn. Tulista pumila) Succulent Plant

Miniature Aloe or Pearl Plant (Haworthia pumila - syn. Tulista pumila) Succulent - Cacti & Succulents. Perennial succulent of particular ornamental value, resembling a very small Aloe. It has almost no stem and its triangular leaves grow in a rosette arrangement. They are oblong lanceolate-oval in shape, sometimes incurved, dark brownish-green in colour and are usually covered with raised white tubercles on both surfaces. The plant flowers in early summer. The flowers, which are tubular, brown-white and waxy in texture, are not of decorative interest. The same applies to the fruits - which are brownish capsules. Miniature Aloe or Pearl Plant (Haworthia pumila) is a fairly hardy dry plant suitable for potting, for gravel or rocky garden soil or for rock gardens. It is used in both gardening and landscape architecture to create, among other things, dry landscape compositions (xeriscaping).

► It is offered at a price determined by the particular characteristics of the succulent, such as the size of the pot, its height, and age. Large succulents are also available for sale (and planting) upon prior arrangement. In any case, the price or prices listed are indicative.

CULTIVATION - CARE OF HAWORTHIA

Watering

Like all succulents, Haworthia has no particular requirements in terms of watering. In the spring, summer and during the warm autumn days water every 7-12 days, while in the winter months every 20-30 days - always in an almost dry soil medium. If you have them outdoors, completely stop watering during rainy periods. Watering is recommended to be done in the early hours of the morning.

Soil

Succulents like light sandy soils with good drainage and aeration, as constant moisture in their root system causes problems and can cause them to rot. The most suitable substrate should consist of good quality soil and peat or compost at a rate of 30-40%, river sand at a rate of 20% and perlite at a rate of 10%. When planting in the mixture we can add a complete fertilizer type 12-12-17+ trace elements. Of course, there are also high-quality ready-packaged soil mixes suitable for succulents.

Resistance-Tolerance

They are plants suitable for coastal areas and generally have great tolerances in a wide range of light and temperature conditions. However, in areas where the winter temperature drops below 10 °C, it is advisable to bring them indoors or protect them in some way from the cold.

Fertilisation

Succulents do not have particular requirements for nutrients, but they certainly become more robust and vigorous when 2-3 times a year they are given fertilizers of the type 12-12-17+TE, 11-15-15+TE, 10-10-20+TE, etc. The use of water-soluble fertilizers of the type 20-20-20+TE 5-6 times a year also gives very good results.

Pests-Diseases

By growing succulents in a proper environment with good ventilation, low atmospheric humidity and adequate lighting, they will rarely be attacked by fungi or insects. During the summer months, the spider mites and mealy bugs can create a problem - pests that are treated with the appropriate insecticides and acaricides -, but in general these are very resistant plants.
