Studying these principles, the Swedish inventor Karl Dahlman managed to present in 1964, the first hover mower. TORO, utilizing and improving the possibilities of Karl Dahlman's invention, has built the HoverPro lawnmowers that achieve hovering by passing air through openings, which are located under the lawnmower engine. The air is converted inside the cutting frame into a "cushion", on which the mower is carried and moved.

In one pass, the lawnmower mows a 53 cm wide strip of lawn. The easy-to-use cutting height adjustment enables the required cutting height to be quickly and easily adjusted, with the cutting height set to the appropriate position, ranging from a minimum of 18mm to a maximum of 30mm. The hovering lawnmower has great maneuverability and performs mowing by rotating the plastic line on flat or sloping lawns, the slope of which, however, does not exceed 45°. In addition, for its safe and efficient operation the grass must not exceed 15 cm in height, and still be as dry as possible. The HoverPro 550 hover mower is particularly useful in narrow flower beds, as well as in golf-course bunkers.
